Daily Logistics

Where do they eat snack and/or lunch?

Do you provide snacks / lunch?

How does nap time work?

State regulations require that all full-day preschool-aged children be offered a rest period. Each child will have a cot provided by the school to use in our classroom. They may also bring a small pillow/blanket/nap roll from home to use. After the required rest period, students who are awake will be allowed to play quietly on their cots or move to the outdoor play area directly beside the classroom.

In the latter case, I will be with the outdoor students and monitoring those still inside resting using a closed-circuit video-monitoring device. I will never be more than a few feet away from the students, whether they are in the outdoor play area or indoor rest area.

What about the bathroom and potty-training?

Closures & Illness

Do we pay for days that the school is closed?

What if my kid is sick and I need to keep them home?

Families are asked to keep their children home if they are sick in order to prevent the‬ spread of illnesses. Students should be free of symptoms (such as fever, vomiting and diarrhea) without medication for 24 hours before returning. In order to help‬ accommodate this, students can miss up to‬‭ 10 days‬‭ of time‬‭ where they will not be expected to pay tuition.

Do you have a substitute if you’re sick?

At this time, there is no substitute provider available if myself or my children are sick.  Therefore the school will be closed. I will make every attempt to notify families as quickly as possible in the case of an unforeseen closure. Families will not be asked to pay tuition for any days the school is closed due to my family’s illnesses.

Weather

What if it’s raining?

What if it's hot or cold outside?

We believe strongly that–with proper gear and accommodations–we can be outside in all temperatures! When it is hot outside, wearing moisture-wicking layers can help keep us cool. Cooling cloths or personal fans can also help. On particularly hot days, there’s nothing better than playing in cold water and enjoying cold treats! On cold days, layering up appropriately–including water proof pants and gloves–will keep us warm.

In addition, we are indoors for snack, lunch, bathroom breaks, and rest time. In excessively hot or cold conditions, we have the ability to play and learn in our indoor classroom as needed.

Do you close for snow / inclement weather?

On days when Henrico or Hanover schools close for weather, our school will be open for optional attendance. If a family chooses to send their student on one of those days, they will pay their regular tuition rate for that day. Any family not attending on one of those days will not owe tuition.
